How to enable multi-factor authentication for Microsoft Teams (External Users)

  • Login to Microsoft Teams as you normally do. 
  • Click The San Diego Foundation (Guest) (1), from the drop down menu
  • Click Continue, if available

Or

More information required appears

  • Click Next (2)

  

Additional security verification appears

  • Select Authentication Phone (3)
  • Select United States (+1), under Select your country or region (4)
    • Input your phone number (5)
  • Select Send me a code by text message (6)
  • Click Next (7)

Note: If you prefer you can opt to receive an automated phone call (6) or use an Authenticator App for MFA (3)

Step 2: We’ve sent a text message to….appears

  • Input verification code received via text (8)
  • Click Verify (9)

Verification successful appears (10)

  • Click Done (11)

 

Multi-factor authentication is now enabled on your account! 

Continue to log in as normal.  In the future, if you reset your password, log in on a new computer, or browse using private mode you will be asked to confirm your identify again by enter a code received on your cell phone.
